The update...

So, thank you to everyone who was worried about me. At about 5 a.m. things slowed down and I was able to go back to sleep. I went to the doctor and he said I was not dilated and that if I were to go into labor, it would be okay. He seemed to think the baby would be fine.

When I had Jeff my water broke and I missed the whole "going to the hospital" dilemma. Now I am scared to death of going too late, and scared to death of going too soon. I voiced my concern to the doctor and he told me that I should go to the hospital when the contractions are about four minutes apart for more than an hour... which is exactly what happened last night. So... his explanation didn't help at all. I called my well seasoned mother of four (not my mother, but a friend who is a mother) and asked her what she thought. She said to wait until I couldn't talk through a contraction to go. My hospital if 15 minutes away so we should be able to make it okay. My other friend is "on call" to meet us at the hospital to get Jeff when the big moment arrives.

I still need to pack my special little hospital bag. Last night I was frantically writing down all the things I should throw together in case we ended up heading the the childbirth center. You would think that I would have packed that silly bag this morning... nope. I mostly slept. :)

So, anything you would recommend I pack in my little bag of tricks? Any advice on when to go to the hospital? Any tricks of the trade that any of you are willing to share with me would be greatly appreciated. I know this is my second time around and I should know what the heck is going on... but alas... I don't.

Okay, I'm done now. This poor blog has become less of a brag blog of Jeff and more of a place to share with the world all of my craziness. I will shape up soon enough, I promise.

Wow! Hang in there. I had no idea you were so close. I wish I could give you some useful advice but alas, I have nothing good to tell you. I have to have c-sections because of some crazy genetic stuff.

Uhmmm that sounds a little nerve racking. When is your due date again? That is crazy you are already having contractions. You need to tell that silly little boy in there to be patient! Just be careful these next few weeks. Drink lots of water and don't do any hard work...you know like moving your sofa or running a marathon:) Well I am not expert but I think it would be safest to just relax these next few weeks and keep away from things that will stress you out...and pack those bags...you'll feel less stress if you are prepared...well at least that was how it was for me.

I would follow the advise of your friend...go when you can't stand it any longer...or when you can't breathe. I start having contractions that most people would think are braxton hicks (sp?) around 7 months, but the problem is that I start dilating, and I mean my contractions are like two minutes apart and they go on for like 8 hours...try sleeping through that night after night. If you are only 15 minutes away I wouldn't worry about making it there in time, you'll be fine. When I feel like I want to go to the hospital I always try to stick it out until I can make it into the doctors office, so I don't pay for the hospital more than I have to. You know your body, just listen to it and everything will be fine. Hope your okay, miss ya tons.

YAY! Just be grateful that you have actually got to experience that! I had a few contractions at night and would get all excited only to finally have to be induced with both of my kids. So I am excited for you to have it happen the traditional way. Keep writing on your blog while you're up- it's entertaining for all of us to read!

I am so glad you are doing well. I was praying and think of you! I am so happy you are OK. I wish I had advice on when to go to the hospital, but I don't. I went to get checked, was induced and then had an emergency C-section. So I know almost nothing about labor, I din't end up using anything I packed. The only thing that I was so grateful I had was my husband and my toothbrush! But my lamase teacher gave us some good advice. She recommended keeping a black bag in the car to put on the seat while driving to the hospital. (incase your water breaks) she said many of her patients ruined their car uphostry when it was left for a couple of days while they were in the hospital. I love you miss Sadie I will keep you in my prayers and if their is anything I can do just let me know.

Wow, Sadie- I'm glad everything worked out okay- make sure you take it easy! Everyone's situation is so different- to me it seems crazy that your doctor said to come in when your contractions were 4 apart for an hour. I would have had my baby at home if I would have waited that long. When I got to 4 minutes apart, we drove 10 minutes to the hospital and when I got there, I was 1-2 minutes apart.
I guess you'll just have to be the judge of how you feel, but I would say it's better to be sent home or go too early than to go too late.
